Zhuanghe Port Berth Map

Zhuanghe Port, a new maritime outlet in the heartland of Northeast China, is located on the northern coast of the Yellow Sea in the Liaodong Peninsula and serves as an important component of the Dalian port system. Situated approximately 100 nautical miles west of the core area of the Dalian Port cluster and about 80 nautical miles east of Dandong Port, Zhuanghe Port lies 270 nautical miles from Incheon Port in South Korea and 560 nautical miles from Nagasaki Port in Japan. It is a key port along the Dalian Yellow Sea Economic Belt.
The first-phase project of Zhuanghe Port was initiated on December 23, 2001, and received approval from the State Council to open to foreign trade on September 12, 2007. It passed national acceptance inspection on November 19, 2009, and officially opened to foreign trade on January 20, 2010. Zhuanghe Port boasts complete port infrastructure and is designated as a Class-I open port by the state. To date, it has four 10,000-tonnage productive berths, one 5,000-tonnage productive berth, one 20,000-tonnage international passenger and roll-on/roll-off berth, and one 1,000-tonnage passenger and roll-on/roll-off berth, with an annual throughput capacity of 6 million tons.

The berth expansion project for the Jiangjunshi Operation Area of Zhuanghe Port commenced on December 15, 2012. According to the deployment and approval outlined in the “Zhuanghe Port Area Planning Scheme of Dalian Port,” the Jiangjunshi Operation Area is planned to accommodate a total of 25 productive berths of various types. The largest berth will have an anchorage capacity of up to 50,000 tons, and the anchorage area covers 4.94 square kilometers. The port area will provide integrated services including cargo handling and warehousing, transportation organization, coastal industrial development, logistics services, land-island transportation, and near-ocean roll-on/roll-off transport. Upon completion, the port will achieve an annual throughput capacity of 25 million tons, becoming a comprehensive port facility.
This is the place where the 800,000 Zhuanghe residents are realizing their great port dream. It is also one of the most promising regions in northern China. Thanks to Zhuanghe Port’s unique geographical advantages and its characteristics as a hinterland-based and foreign-trade-oriented port, Zhuanghe Port has become the ideal hub for seizing the opportunities presented by both the “Revitalization of Northeast China” and the “Belt and Road Initiative.”

Against the backdrop of vast and magnificent history, the transformation of Zhuanghe Port may seem insignificant. Yet, as you step onto the northern shore of the Yellow Sea and gaze down upon its winding coastline, you’ll see bright harbors—each one a sparkling pearl nestled amid verdant hills and clear waters—and can’t help but marvel at how Zhuanghe Harbor, with its inclusive and accommodating nature, exerts an irresistible charm everywhere you look. The “Zhuanghe County Gazetteer” describes it thus: “With prominent headlands and deeply indented bays, islands are arrayed in succession, headlands and bays intermingle, and the coastline is highly convoluted. Under the influence of wave action, the strait features sea cliffs and rocky beaches. The coastal geology consists primarily of Precambrian quartzite, siliceous bedrock, limestone, crystalline schist, and gneiss. The coastline exhibits multi-level terraces and a complex array of diverse terrestrial landform types, along with varied tidal-flat substrate structures. The coast stretches from Shantuozi in Nanjian Town in the east to the mouth of the Biliu River in Jianshan Township in the west…”
